Position: Network Specialist
Location: Topeka, KS, 66607
Duration: 6-month contract

Job Description:
• Implementation - Prepare equipment for installation within OITS networking services by installing configurations written by Planning and Engineering, Proof MOPs prepared by Planning and Engineering for accuracy and completeness.
• Actively participate in installation of new/replacement equipment by coordinating with the installation technicians and service providers and making network changes, as necessary.
• Tier II support - Troubleshoot and resolves problems in the OITS networking services that were referred to Tier II by either Tier I or the customer.
• Cutovers - Actively participate with Installation, the service provider and/or the customer to establish new service or to upgrade existing service. File CMAs, as necessary, to document changes made within the OITS networking services.
• Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to ensuring the agency is adequately staffed during and immediately following natural and/or manmade disasters, infectious disease outbreaks, and/or acts of terrorism.
• Assists other employees in the work unit in accomplishing assignments, as necessary.

Qualifications:
• Technical ability configuring and trouble-shooting Cisco routers, switches, firewalls and networks. Cisco CCNA certification or similar skill-sets. Strong customer service and documentation skills.
• Skills in remote diagnostics of data communication networks and equipment required.
